Nominated awards
The Northern Territory (NT) Sports Awards are the premier event on the Territory sporting calendar, recognising the outstanding achievements of our athletes, coaches, sporting officials and volunteers.
To be eligible for nomination the performances and achievements attained must have occurred between 1 January and 31 December.
Nominations must meet the selection criteria outlined below and be submitted via the online portal: 2027 NT Sports Awards nomination portal.
Sportsperson of the Year
Awarded to an athlete who has achieved outstanding results in respect to their performances in recognised national or international competitions. Nominations are open to all athletes.

Para-athlete of the Year
Awarded to a para-athlete who has achieved outstanding results in performances, either at national or international level. Nominations are open to athletes of all ages, sports and classifications.

Junior Sportsperson of the Year
Awarded to a junior athlete who has achieved consistent high level outstanding results in respect to their performance in a recognised national or international competition.

Masters Sportsperson of the Year
Awarded to a masters athlete who has achieved outstanding results in respect to their performance in recognised national or international competitions.

Team of the Year
Awarded to a team that has achieved outstanding results in respect to their performance in a recognised national or international competition.

Eric Johnston Coach of the Year
Awarded to an individual who has achieved outstanding results coaching competitions.
Nominations are open to all accredited coaches, paid or unpaid.

Official of the Year
Awarded to an individual who has achieved outstanding results in officiating competitions in recognised national or international competitions.

Volunteer of the Year
Awarded to an individual who has displayed outstanding conduct as a volunteer in the support, administration, promotion and/or delivery of services.
Nominees must contribute to sport in an unpaid capacity. While unpaid coaches and volunteers are not excluded from this award, the nomination will not be assessed on these roles and must focus on their contributions beyond coaching and officiating.

Local Performance of the Year
Awarded to an individual athlete or team who have achieved outstanding performance in local Territory-based competitions.

Regional Performance of the Year
Awarded to an individual or team based in regional and remote areas of the NT who have achieved outstanding performances in local Territory-based competitions.

Karen Schneider Sports Medicine Australia Safer Sport Award
Presented to an individual who has contributed to creating a safer sporting environment for their team, players or sporting community.
The principle of this award is to identify action taken which has contributed to or enabled a club, sport, peak sporting body or sporting community to keep their sport safe.
