NT Performing Arts Awards finalists
Celebrate the incredible talent and creativity of NT's performing arts community, with 29 outstanding finalists across 9 categories.
Breathtaking performances, creative organisations and talented performing artists have been named as finalists for the 2024 NT Performing Arts Awards.
The achievements of the 29 finalists will be celebrated at the awards night on Tuesday 19 November in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) when the winners of the 9 categories will be announced:
- People’s Choice Award: gives the public the opportunity to vote for an outstanding NT production or an outstanding NT performing artist, creative or production staff. The finalists are:
- POD – Luminous Productions
- The Manifesto of Saltwater Women - Performers: Juran Adams, Melanie Munuggurr
- TIME – SLIDE Youth Dance Theatre
- Seussical The Musical - Mackillop Catholic College
- Production of the Year Award: celebrates an outstanding NT production recognised by its originality, quality, and its audience reception. The finalists are:
- Cloud Split – Tracks Dance Company
- POD – Luminous Productions
- The ‘Other Side of Me’ – Gary Lang NT Dance Company
- Performer of the Year Award: recognises a performing artist who has made a significant impact in a NT production. The finalists are:
- Kelly Beneforti
- Miriam Nicholls
- Rachel Wharam
- Young Achiever Award: recognises a young artist between 18 to 25 years of age who has made a significant contribution to the performing arts in the NT on stage or behind the scenes. The finalists are:
- Georgia Cruickshank
- Grace Hendry
- Louisa Graham
- Pip O’Shea
- Behind the Scenes Creative Award: recognises the creative talent of choreographers, designers, directors, producers and writers, who form the backbone of outstanding NT productions. The finalists are:

- Ben Graetz
- Rachael Wallis
- Behind the Scenes Production Award: recognises excellent work behind the scenes by technicians, stage managers and project co-ordinators to produce outstanding Northern Territory performances. The finalists are:
- Brad Fawcett
- Duane Preston
- Hannah Illingworth
- Inspiring Educator Award: recognises an inspirational performing arts educator teaching any genre of performing arts including dance, music, theatre, musical theatre, opera, circus, physical theatre and comedy within the last 5 years. The finalists are:
- Angeline Vrettis
- Anna Thomson
- Kym Hastie
- Impact Award: recognises work by an individual or organisation which has profiled NT performing arts on a national and/or international stage. The finalists are:
- Corrugated Iron Youth Arts
- GUTS Dance
- Rachael Wallis
- Ultimate Legend Award: recognises an established arts practitioner who has made a significant, long-term contribution to the NT performing arts sector. The finalists are:
- David McMicken
- Gail Evans
- Tim Newth
The Awards celebrate the achievements of Territory artists and acknowledge the people who perform, produce, and contribute to the NT performing arts sector and the Territory lifestyle we enjoy.
More than 120 nominations were received from the Territory arts community seeking to recognise the makers and shakers of the performing arts industry.
The winners, selected by a panel of industry judges for their outstanding achievements on the stage and behind-the-scenes in dance, music, theatre, musical theatre, opera, circus, physical theatre and comedy, will be announced live from Mparntwe (Alice Springs) on Tuesday 19 November at 6:45pm.
