2024 NT Performing Arts Awards recipients
The NT Performing Arts Awards recipients were announced on 19 November 2024 at The Old Quarry in Mparntwe (Alice Springs).

The Other Side of Me – Gary Lang NT Dance Company
Choreographed by Gary Lang in collaboration with Northumbria University, ‘The Other Side of Me’ brings to life the traumatic experiences of the Stolen Generations.
Inspired by a true story of an Aboriginal man adopted by a white English family, the piece explores identity, displacement, and resilience.
Premiering at the Darwin Festival, the work toured Western Australia and the NT, fostering understanding and connection through Indigenous narratives, supported by post-show discussions with audiences.

Kelly Beneforti
A longtime dance animateur with Tracks Dance Company, Kelly Beneforti is celebrated for her powerful and dynamic presence in the NT arts scene. Known for her inclusive and movement-based approach, she connects with dancers across various styles and communities.
Kelly’s nomination highlights her remarkable performance in ‘Cloud Split,’ where she delivered an extraordinary show while eight months pregnant, exemplifying her commitment to storytelling, creativity, and resilience in the performing arts.
Young Achiever Award

Georgia Cruickshank
Georgia joined SLIDE Youth Dance Theatre in 2023, quickly becoming a standout performer with her role as Charlie in ‘TIME,’ a production focused on drink-driving consequences.
Georgia’s versatility in ballet and contemporary dance shines through her powerful performances. Her dedication to impactful storytelling and inspiring community change makes her an exceptional young role model in the NT arts scene.

Grace Hendry
Grace has appeared in over 25 productions with SLIDE Youth Dance Theatre. Known for her emotional depth, technical skill, and mentoring of young dancers, she starred in SLIDE’s production ‘TIME,’ where her portrayal of a teenager affected by a tragic accident deeply resonated with audiences.
Grace’s commitment to the NT arts community and her keen sense of responsibility as a mentor make her a valued presence in the local arts scene.

Ben Graetz
Ben has been a dynamic figure in the Australian performing arts for over 26 years.
As Creative Director for the National Indigenous Music Awards and Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards, he uplifts Indigenous narratives. His sold-out show, ‘TINA: A Tropical Love Story’ at the Darwin Festival, showcased his unique talent for storytelling and cabaret.
Founder of BRG PRODUCTIONS, Ben is dedicated to creating space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices in the arts.
Behind the Scenes Production Award
Duane Preston
As Production Manager at Tracks Dance Company, Duane has built strong connections throughout the Top End. He started as a musician and sound technician and now brings audio-visual expertise to productions like ‘Cloud Split’ and ‘Milpirri Sensorium.’
Duane’s collaborations with remote communities and passion for capturing NT’s landscapes in photography reflect his dedication to fostering artistic excellence across the NT.
Inspiring Educator Award

Angeline Vrettis
An Arts Specialist at Larrakeyah Primary School, Angeline teaches Visual Arts, Drama, Media Arts, Music, and Dance, creating a curriculum infused with her passion for the arts.
Her whole-school productions, featuring beloved stories and original scripts, engage every student and bring the community together.

Corrugated Iron Youth Arts
For 40 years, Corrugated Iron Youth Arts has been NT’s leading youth arts organisation, fostering creativity in a region with limited training options.
The organisation’s collaborations with national arts groups have launched countless careers. With a commitment to inclusivity, Corrugated Iron offers essential support for young people, cementing its role as a cornerstone of NT’s arts ecosystem.
Ultimate Legend Award
Tim Newth
Since 1988, Tim has had a profound impact on the NT’s performing arts, as co-founder of Tracks Dance and in collaborating with Lajamanu’s Aboriginal community.
Recognised as a Member of the Order of Australia, Tim’s inclusive approach and commitment to local creativity has fostered long-term community relationships and nurtured Australia’s longest-running seniors dance troupe.
People’s Choice Award

POD – Luminous Productions
‘POD’ showcased the Top End’s seasons through stunning staging, puppetry, and interactive music.
Made from recycled materials, this sensory-friendly experience highlighted Larrakia culture, bringing joy and environmental awareness to diverse audiences.
