NT gender equality frameworks
In 2026, a new gender equality strategy is being developed following public consultation. Once finalised, this strategy will replace the current Statement of Commitment and the NT Gender Equality Action Plan.
While the new strategy is under development, the Office of Gender Equity and Diversity will continue to use the Gender Equality Action Plan 2022–2025 as the guiding framework for action, ensuring continuity of effort and progress on gender equality in the Northern Territory (NT).
NT Gender Equality Statement of Commitment
The NT Gender Equality Statement of Commitment (2020) set a shared vision for a fair, inclusive and safe Territory.
It was delivered through the NT Gender Equality Action Plan 2022–2025, the first plan of its kind, which laid the foundation for improving gender equality in the NT.
