Office of Gender Equity and Diversity

The Office of Gender Equity and Diversity provides policy advice across the Northern Territory Government about gender equality, diversity and inclusion.

This includes providing support directly to the Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality.

We administer grants and scholarships to provide more equal opportunities for all Territorians. By doing so, we're helping reach their full potential through gendered approaches.

The office incorporates the former Office of Women’s Policy and the Office of Men’s Policy and now includes gender diversity.

Gender equality frameworks

Gender equality is a human right and fundamental to progress social wellbeing, social justice and community cohesion in the Northern Territory.

The government has released a statement of commitment and action plan to support initiatives and practices that drive equality for women, men and people with diverse gender identities.

The Gender Equity and Diversity Series is a joint initiative between CDU’s Northern Institute and the Office of Gender Equity and Diversity.

The series includes papers that raise awareness of gender equity, inequality and diversity issues in the Northern Territory. The papers aim to support discussion, public understanding and progress towards greater equality.

The series brings together leading Australian researchers and includes Territory‑specific research, as well as evidence and lessons applied from other contexts.

New papers are released annually.
