Northern Territory Sports Academy
The Northern Territory Sports Academy (NTSA) empowers our sporting community by providing programs, funding and facilities that help athletes, coaches and officials thrive – both on and off the sporting field.
Since 1996, NTSA (formerly the Northern Territory Institute of Sport) has proudly supported athletes competing on the world stage, including at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, World Championships, and Commonwealth Games. Our legacy of excellence inspires us to continue nurturing the next generation of Territory talent.

Athlete development programs
The NTSA has developed 3 programs to support athlete development within the NT.

NTSA Para Programs
The NTSA Para Unit is part of the National Para Uplift strategy with a view to create more opportunities for individuals to engage with para-sport across various levels.
The aim of the unit is to increase participation in para sport by supporting individuals, reducing barriers to engage in sport, providing development and performance pathways, and developing para sport specific coaches.
The Para Programs offered through the NTSA reflect the commitment to long term athlete development and a holistic approach to individual performance development.
NTSA Para Futures Program
In partnership with Paralympics Australia, the program supports para-athletes and individuals that have been talent identified as having the qualities to progress through to the performance pathway, helping them find sports that match their goals and abilities. The program provides Para Sport expert guidance and support, as the participant develops their skills along the performance pathway.

Coach and officiating scholarships
We offer a program to support and develop coaches and officials in the NT.
The program is for accredited volunteer coaches and officials who are motivated, self-directed, and focused on improving their skills and knowledge. self-nominated and requires candidates to submit an online application.
Participants gain access to tailored support and resources to strengthen their coaching and officiating abilities.

Applications are now open for the 2026–27 NTSA Coach and Official Scholarship Program.

Applications must be submitted online via the relevant form.
Coaches can apply using the coach nominations form.
