NT Youth Week 2026 celebrates young Territorians
NT Youth Week 2026 has wrapped up after 2 weeks of events celebrating young people across the Territory.
Held from 2 to 15 April, NT Youth Week is the Territory’s largest annual celebration of young people, recognising their contributions and encouraging them to get involved in their communities.
This year’s theme, Breaking Barriers, inspired young people to look beyond challenges and recognise their ability to overcome obstacles and shape their own futures. The theme was chosen by NT Youth Week Ambassadors and reflected in events held across the Territory.
Hundreds of activities took place in urban, regional and remote communities, including workshops, markets, sports and creative programs. Events provided safe, inclusive and drug and alcohol free opportunities for young people to connect, learn new skills and have fun.
The Northern Territory Government supported NT Youth Week through the 2026 NT Youth Week Grants program, awarding $57,200 to 20 organisations across the Territory. Funding supported a diverse range of community-led events in the Top End, Big Rivers, East Arnhem, Barkly and Central Australia.
Activities included barista workshops, youth markets, arts programs and community events, delivered by organisations such as Darwin Community Arts, East Arnhem Regional Council and Katherine Town Council.
NT Youth Week Ambassadors also played an important role in encouraging young people to take part and share their voices.
NT Youth Week continues to celebrate the strength, creativity and potential of young Territorians.
