New youth hub to be delivered at Leanyer Recreation Park
A new youth hub for Darwin’s northern suburbs is planned for Leanyer Recreation Park, with the site confirmed following community consultation.
The purpose-built facility will provide young people aged 10 to 17 with a safe, structured space to connect, build skills and access support.
The hub will be located next to the existing basketball courts and will form part of the wider recreation precinct, with access to nearby facilities and transport links.
It will cater for up to 60 young people at a time, with capacity for up to 100 during special events. Planned features include a flexible indoor activity space, kitchen, accessible amenities, office and meeting space, outdoor areas, storage, parking and a safe drop-off zone.
The hub will support after-hours and school holiday programs designed to strengthen connection and support positive pathways for young people.
The tender to design and construct the facility is now open and closes on 5 May 2026.
