Entries now open for the 2026 Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award
Entries are now open for the 2026 Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award, inviting artists from across the Northern Territory to honour the stories and contributions of senior Territorians through portraiture.
Now in its 27th year, the award highlights the important role older Territorians play in shaping the cultural, social and community life of the NT. It also provides a platform for local artists to showcase their skills, with works spanning painting, drawing, photography and mixed media.
The award will be presented during Seniors Month in August, continuing a long‑standing tradition of celebrating seniors and strengthening connections across generations.
Delivered by Tactile Arts on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, the program has become a significant fixture on the Territory’s arts calendar. Alongside the main portrait prize, the Selfie with a Senior Award supported by COTA NT encourages Territorians to capture moments that reflect the relationships, memories and experiences shared with older community members.
