Community comes together to mark Youth Homelessness Matters Day
The department recently joined community partners at Civic Park to mark Youth Homelessness Matters Day.
Held in partnership with Anglicare NT, NT Shelter, the City of Darwin and other Northern Territory Government organisations, the event raised awareness of youth homelessness and encouraged community support for young people experiencing housing instability.
Youth homelessness can often go unseen, with many young people experiencing couch surfing, staying in unsafe environments, or lacking a stable place to call home.
The event highlighted the importance of connection, participation and community engagement, with activities such as the annual couch racing bringing people together in a positive and engaging way.
By working alongside partners and the community, the Northern Territory Government continues to support initiatives that promote inclusion, connection and wellbeing for young people across the Territory.
