A rare opportunity to shape the future of Darwin’s State Square Building
A rare opportunity is now open to reimagine one of Darwin’s most significant new landmarks.
The Northern Territory Government has launched an expressions of interest (EOI) process for the future use of the $145 million State Square Building.
Purpose-built with 3 storeys and a basement, the building is a striking architectural shell with soaring ceilings, advanced climate control and versatile back-of-house facilities. Its prime location between Parliament House and the Darwin Waterfront makes it a centrepiece of the Civic and State Square precinct.
The government is seeking visionary proposals that will:
- activate the building and surrounding precinct
- create jobs and grow business opportunities
- attract visitors and investment to the Territory.
Construction of the building is anticipated to be completed in quarter 3 of 2026.
EOI details:
- Open: 27 August 2025
- Close: 20 October 2025
